Student Regulations
Because of the nature of online learning, there are four non-negotiable policies to which Virtual School students must adhere.
- Internet Acceptable Use Guidelines Students must read the and be aware of the penalties to be incurred for unacceptable use.
- Plagiarism Policy Plagiarism will not be tolerated and may result in receiving a zero for an assignment and/or withdrawl from a course. A link is provided by Virtual School teachers as a resource and all students are required to access it to familiarize themselves with its contents.
- Final Exams All students must write final exams for each course. Some of these exams may be online wheras other will be held at a school site on a date set in advance and will be supervised. Any exceptions to the above must be approved by the Programme Director.
- Completion of the Course Withdrawal Request Form To officially drop any Virtual School course, students must notify their teacher(s) or the VS Admissions Office and complete the online . Failure to do so may result in a student missing the Full Disclosure of marks date.
Students are required to complete and submit assignments and tests in a timely fashion. Tutors in turn will mark and provide feedback (including a mid-semester evaluation) by commenting on the student's strengths and areas in need of improvement. Constant communication between teacher and student is essential for success in a course. As well, students will be asked to participate in group discussions in an online chat or threaded discussion conference.
Students who on an ongoing basis do not maintain regular contact with their tutors or who do not complete assignments or who are inactive for more than 15 consecutive days without informing their teachers of an illness or legitimate absence will be removed from class.
